As the kids have been taking tons of pictures for the 4H photography contest, I have been telling them it is all about the light. I have said many times, "Really! Pretty much anything you take a picture of when the light is right is going to be a pretty picture." Well, I take it back.

| The light was great....but when the subject is pumping out a septic tank, it just isn't pretty. |
 |
| No matter what. |
 |
| Even when the setting sun looks pretty through the tree...still not a pretty picture. |
 |
| Even with the whole "father-son" bonding moment shot....still not gonna win a prize anywhere with the tell-tale sump pump in the foreground! |

So, I take it back. Light is mega important, but you gotta have something to work with in the subject! :) However, I am SO thankful that my manly men conquered the trouble before it affected my every day routine. When I look at these pictures in that light....the light of what the guys in my house handle and I don't have to.....they are pretty nice after all. :)

I keep thinking of Mom after I read your post. As a photographer who had her camera in her hand often, she would really be laughing about the great light.....and the not-so-wonderful subject matter :) NOT that Morgan and Shane aren't great subjects....but the issue at hand. bleh. We've all been through it and don't we appreciate our guys even MORE than before when they handle these things!!!
Nice!! :) Great puns on the light issue!! I think you are right - I do love silhouette pictures of trees and people, but when I KNOW what they are dealing with in those pictures, well....that just casts a different light on it! :)
Thanks for the laugh --- and kudos to the men who do all the yukky jobs!
