Sadie has a birthday!

She requested a scavenger hunt to find her gifts.

I loved when she got the "aha" moment about each clue.
                                                            Her gift packing crew.

Then it was time for a special gift from Dad and Karen....a picture that was Mom's. Sadie is a lot like Mom. Loves the color blue, dogs, indians, horses, and history. She is so happy not only to have this picture that has indians and horses in it, but she's so glad to have something that was Mom's.
They all stopped the gift opening to take a closer look.
She came back for another look several times.

I find it does something for me to have something so familiar around. And it does something for me to see how symbolic and special it is to Sadie. Thanks, Dad and Karen.

On to the cake! Jessica and Ivey were making plans to decorate the cake, but Shane got sick so we decided they would come later so we didn't share any sickness. So Ivey took on the decorating! She made the Indian girl out of clay and baked her. She is darling. Then she made the spear things with WAY more patience than I would have had.

Sadie was very pleased with how it turned out. :)
She loves to wear aprons, so I got her a cute one, plus leg warmers that she is wearing on her arms so you could see them in the picture. :) More about those later.

On to the next surprise. Sadie is a die hard dog lover. Daddy is not. And herein lies a conflict. Daddy sweetly got her a puppy last year, but this summer it died. Very sad and Daddy was sad for Sadie, but sure wasn't planning on getting another dog. Ever. To make a long story short, Daddy decided we better get another puppy for her birthday. It isn't going to be weaned until December, so we gave her a clue to go to my phone and look at a picture. The pictures show the progression from "Is this real?" to sheer joy.....

It was a happy birthday, indeed. We've had a decade of joy from Sadie Bella. Here are a few  of my recent favorite pictures of her.

What's not to love? :)

I echo Jessica "what IS not to love in Sadie Bella?" (which would apply to Shane-o and Ives as well!) *smile* What an awesome post! I love so much about it....all the pictures are fabulous. Her hair with the curly ribbon braided in - so fun! The expressions on her face - especially the aha moment! :) That picture brings back lots of memories and it's so special that Sadie enjoys so many of the same things Mom did....and loves this picture just as much as Mom did. I haven't seen that picture for quite some time - I enjoyed seeing it again. It instantly took me down memory lane to the orange & red carpeted living room and lots of memories there :) The birthday cake is amazing. Gold star Ivey!! I think I should fly you up here for Levi's upcoming birthday! :) And ......the puppy!! I was so excited for Sadie's birthday to arrive knowing what was in store! What a great birthday present and what a great Dad.

I remember when Sadie was born and you had asked I send out an email with the news. I didn't hear it clearly on the phone and sent out the news Sadie Della had arrived - remember that?! Then I emailed correction :) Wow - ten years has flown by! Ten special years indeed with Sadie! Now I echo Aunt Hannah - better quit before I'm more than misty. Big love and thanks for the awesome post sharing the day!
