Summertime!

Well, we had some major computer trouble and camera trouble so we have been out of commission for a few months...sorry. We are all doing well, thoroughly enjoying summertime. Mid-afternoon storms building, mid-afternoon ice cream cones, lots of time together without the school schedule...aaahhhhh...Shane had a request for summer. About April he started saying he wanted a Mohawk. I told him the day school got out he could have one. So, this signifies the beginning of our summer...
And he had a lot of fun surprising people with it! He left one of the cowboys speechless. :) After a week, Daddy got the clippers out again and now he has a buzz, but it was a fun week. Ivey suggested dyeing it purple but we didn't get that festive! :)
We have been in need of some barn cats, so when the paper advertised free kittens, we nabbed them. The challenge is going to be keeping them as barn cats and not yard pets...these three are over the moon about them! :) This picture just looks like summer to me...
I decided to take some pictures of the kids since it has been a few months since I've taken any. Daddy was up there too, and here's what happened when Daddy tried to help me by telling the kids "Good posture and smile!" before I took the picture. This one is worth double clicking to see their expressions.
This is really more what I had in mind...but the first one makes me laugh. :)
Here are a few with Morgan in them too - the kids are all enjoying getting to be with Morgan a lot more this summer. During school they basically see him at breakfast and dinner. So, we're all loving summertime.

Morgan started a new colt recently, so evenings find us all down at the barn, watching. The kids end up playing in the dirt, the horse tank, or work on their "ship" they are building out of an old chute and whatever junk they can find around.
Sadie is happy to have her kids (as she calls them) home from school for the summer. She is a big fan of twirling and has also been riding her bike a ton since she learned how to ride "a two wheeled bike by myself". :)

Shane has been busy building legos (his new goal is to build a city using every lego he has...it's getting huge), riding his dirtbike for as many hours as we'll let him, and going with Morgan to move bulls. If he isn't doing the above, he's reading. He used to complain about long car trips, now he brings a stack of books and the trip goes real fast!
Ivey has mastered Shane's stilts, so she goes everywhere on them. She can go backwards and has come up with a few tricks too. She leaves them by her bed and when she's sleeping is really about the only time she is without them, unless she is riding bikes. She loves making sure the kittens and baby chicks are fed and watered, and she's been co-writing lots of plays with Shane that the three of them perform for us after about 3 minutes of practice. :)

I hope you are all having good days, enjoying the summer.

Oh, what a FUN update!! THANK YOU! :) I laughed my head off at the picture about good posture and smiling! ha! In the picture with the swimsuits, it cracked me up that Sadie had the right flip-flops for her feet, but just two different colored flip-flops! :) And a MOHAWK!?!?!? Crazy, Shane!! You can tell in the one picture you have of it that he was THRILLED about it! It's the simple things in life, isn't it? :)

The picture of Shane lifting his hat to reveal the mowhawk made both Bryce and I burst into laughter. How neat is the one of Sadie dancing!!!
