Last Summer Bash

We went and spent a fun weekend with friends - some we know well and some were new, it was a great weekend. We ladies took the kids to a crocodile/alligator show while the guys went golfing. I don't have pictures of their golfing (bet they would have been entertaining) but here are some from the show. This is a baby crocodile, their snout is a lot longer than an alligator's.Each of the boys got to hold this caiman after the show. Their eyes are much larger than a croc or alligator's - and the man said they always have a bad attitude.

Lots of kids were getting their picture taken with this alligator - the lady was holding him down. He was not happy about the whole deal, but mostly stood for it. A few times he thrashed around a little bit. Amazing that little electrical tape and a small lady can transform something wild into something that is basically harmless.
Good thing this one wasn't grumpy....just kidding. This is a stuffed one and the boys had lots of fun with it, can you tell? :)
Then on to meet the guys and swim for the afternoon - that's all the kids need to have hours and hours of fun.
I'm not sure who has more fun, Morgan or the kids. I'm not sure what particular game this was, but he had Sadie, Ava, and Ivey's rapt attention!
Sadie met and made a fast friend...Mia. Too bad there is so much distance between them!

And these two always enjoy every minute together. Lots of giggling!
Now back to another week of school. I am totally entertained by the exhibit of gender difference in our house since school started. For two years, when Shane has come home from school and I ask about his day, I basically have received short sentence answers. He loves school, but he doesn't elaborate about what they've done very much. Enter Ivey....she hasn't stopped talking about what they do at school since she started a week ago! The 35 minute ride home is FULL of details! From what they did to what the kids wore("...and he was wearing an orange shirt but not a pretty orange, more like a brownish orange." I kid you not, that is the kind of detail we are hearing!). All in run on sentences that only pause when she has to take a breath. We have to ask her to stop talking at the table long enough to say thanks for our food! :) The neat thing is, with her talking about what happens at school so much, it seems to jog Shane's memory about things he did and we're hearing more about his days than we ever have before!

Sadie seems to be doing fine at home without the kids. I know she misses them, especially Ivey, but she is really enjoying one on one time too. I'll take some pictures of some of the things she is doing during the day and post them for you soon.

Very fun to see all of your new pictures. It makes me laugh to hear the difference between Shane and Ivey's personalities. Fischer is definately our little chatterbox. :) He talks and talks about ranching and hunting with his imaginary friend MicMcToos.
