I have the same sort of guy. Here's one example. We salvaged some bricks from our friends' patio and I had my heart set on doing a brick wall in the house. Morgan was a) not that excited about it and b) has never done any masonry. But Mom taught me how to bat my eyes at the crucial moment, and next thing Morgan knew, he was in Lowe's buying a trowel. He actually had fun with it and I think it turned out amazing. First order of business for any of Morgan's projects is to gather his crew and get them organized.
We all had a lot of fun taking the brick up....especially on such a beautiful evening. I love this picture of Daddy and his crew working together.
Family picture in front of the house - just a shell at that time. I was smiling big because all the bricks were now ready to be used in the house. Morgan is smiling, but secretly hoping I wouldn't want a brick wall by the time it was time to use them. :) No such luck......now fast forward a year...
Ahhh.....look at that mason go - like a pro!
Behind the scenes, prepping the bricks.... this is the washing station.
Such productivity!!
The second day - looking straight and good to me!
They loved doing it and I'm going to love having it. At one point Sadie asked "Where will you put your bed? I told her probably against that wall and she said "I don't approve of that. It might fall down." I should be worried when one of the crew is worried about the wall falling down!"
I didn't tell Morgan, "See, I told you you could do it!" I just told him it was awesome and then asked about my next project. I'll post about it when it's done. :)

those KW benches come in handy at times.....:o)
Love the assembly line, muddy feet, smiles that come from hard work and a good end result, and LOVE the brick wall!!! Great job, Morg - and crew!
I really would have liked to see some pictures of Shane though. I'm not sure who that tall young man is that is working with Morgan, but surely that can't be my little nephew?!? :)
Can't wait to see the next project. Shell, wisely reveal only one project at a time so your DIY crew doesn't quit ya.
Love you all,
Mel
It's so beautiful!! I can just see the iron bed against that--wow!!!
Have Kevin and Jody seen their brick up on your wall yet?
I want a brick wall too...Morg??
Love, Memop
WOWZERS!!! Impressive!!! Love the brick wall and loved everything about your post! The group effort together - with Morg efficiently leading the crew! The fun pictures of it all! :) I admit having the same thought as Mel when I saw some of the pictures of Shane - I had to do a double take. Where did Shane go and who is that tall kid? :)
The abbreviation "MHCDI" ha! So true! We watched MHCDI in action when Mom had projects for Dad - which developed ODCDI as we grew up (Our-Dad-can-do-it!) and changed to MHCDI once we got married. Husbands and Dad do these projects so amazingly that it only boosts our confidence in MHCDI :)
Recently I had one such project I asked D to help me with (smaller scale!) and he said "I thought with two little ones your brain wouldn't have room or time to think about these projects" ha! wishful thinking dear husband :)
HATTY LOVES THE BRICK WALL--SHE WANTS A BRICK FLOOR SHE SAID. THE BOYS LIKED LOOKING AT THE KIDS HELPING SO MUCH, AND THEY BOTH REALLY THOUGHT SHANE LOOKED LIKE A "BIG BOY".
WE CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT ALL!
FUN SEEING YOU "LASTERDAY" SHELLY!
I LOVE IT!!!!!! I can't wait to invite our whole family to see this new place!!!! Also....who will I hVe to relate to about moving around the countryside on a monthly basis. Thanks a lot for giving up the gypsy life. ;))))))). Loved the picture Carrie sent me. I can NOT believe how much the kids have grown! I've put off emailing so long that now I'll have to write a book. Thanks for all the homeschool advise I've been getting second hand off Tori. :)))). What a beautiful family!
