Monique had another baby boy a few weeks ago. I have been so mindful of her special days with a 2 year old boy and a baby. Tiring days? Yes. Demanding days? For sure. But some of the sweetest and most precious. So, Mo.....I just want to say that if you feel drained some days because both your little boys need you for everything and need you to do everything for them, look ahead. In a very few years, they'll be little boys playing with Legos....
Still pretty dependent, but not near as much. Which is a little sad and a little exciting. Then in a very few years, you'll walk into the kitchen one find that the little boy you did so much for is now doing things for you! And all the years of Lego loving, poring over the instructions, and building in every spare moment will magically become a huge help! This is what I found last Saturday......
We needed a faucet replaced badly. Shane couldn't wait to tackle it. So he did! He laid out the instructions and excitedly pored over them, just like he used to with Lego instructions. He said "I love this kind of stuff! It's like a big Lego set, but harder."
Morgan stated that he could have replaced the faucet...but he wouldn't have been smiling. :)
Shane was glad Daddy was home for lunch so he could show him just how he did it.
And that it worked!
We were all cheering, but a little bit of Mama was thinking "He's getting farther and farther away from the little boy at the Lego table - but it sure doesn't SEEM like it's been that long!!". Daddy was thinking "YES!!! I don't have to do household plumbing chores any more!!" :) So, Mo....the ones you are so carefully and tirelessly taking care of will soon be taking care of you! :)

Aunt Dede isn't sure whether to say "Way to go Shane!", or join in with your Mama in feeling a little sad that you are getting so big so fast. :)
I will say that I'll keep the "to do" list away from Uncle Justin and save it for you when you come --- he doesn't smile as sweet as you do upon beginning OR completing the projects like this in our house. Grumbles to begin it, and grumbles at why it didn't work (he does NOT excitedly and carefully read the instructions, mind you!).
Great job!!
Love,
Aunt Dede
LOVED this post so much and have been meaning to come back and comment...umm....15 days later *Smile* All that you said is so true and it was another reminder of how QUICKLY the time goes by! It seems it wasn't that long ago that I remember Shane sitting at the lego table building...and now! I was taken back again at how grown up he's getting...all too quickly :) I think often of what a friend said this summer..."Sometimes the days are long, but the years are short"
On the flip side...Shane-o!! Way to go - we are impressed! I think Uncle Daren would like you to come have fun with projects here too ;) love, Auntie Mo
Looking back at this on Feb. 26, Shane's 13th birthday, I am thinking what a wonderful boy he is and such a perfect first grandchild from the beginning on---pure joy for Opum and me!
