Branding

We just finished branding. I didn't get many pictures....just what I could snap between vaccinating calves. True "snap" shots. :)

As I stood behind these guys, listening to the banter among them and enjoying watching the way they work, the thought crossed my mind that I love hanging out where this is the footwear of choice. :)
A calf escaped....but not for long. This is one of the last pictures of this horse...we sold him this weekend. More on that soon.
Small crew, and at first the guy roping was having trouble. He is typically an awesome roper but had to borrow a rope and it was slow going at first.

Which meant a break for the crew. And I assume more pressure for the roper as we all watched him miss. Suppose there was any commentary? :) Here is the only time you will see Morgan in an apron too....cute, isn't he? :)

Then we got our groove on. The roping got smooth, it was going well on the ground, and one guy said "Now we're cooking with hot oil".  Here are a few pics of what it looks like to be cooking with hot oil in the branding pen.

Clay wasn't the aforementioned roper....he was second to rope. Fun to watch guys have a day where they can't miss. That's the kind of day Clay had...anything he threw caught something. Good stuff.
