KING OF THE CHICKEN HOUSE

A lot of you know a lot of things about Morgan. But do you know that he has chickens...and that he loves his chicken herd? It's true. We all do, but I really get the biggest kick out of how much Morgan likes having chickens, fresh eggs, etc. He has labored to make the chicken house easy to raise two different ages of chickens in. He's pretty proud of his 67 chickens.

When one owns chickens, there is an occasional need to clean the chicken coop. Unless you are the King of the Chicken House.....then you have your peons do it.

Actually, Daddy did his fair share, but he was also very active in showing the kiddos the correct way to clean everything so they can one day do it without him! :)

Let's go to the peons.

Roll up your sleeves! Put your gloves on! Get in there!

Push that broom like you mean it! Put your back into it! And Smile!!
Hey! You over there! We don't have time to stop and consider life...SWEEP!

Shane is also the best one to send across the road to get various tools....think he suspects that he's about to be BEHIND this shovel? :)

Sadie isn't too little to sweep - she just had to find a little broom! She couldn't find gloves her size that matched, so Mama's gloves will do. Since Mama packed her gloves out there, then set them down and took pictures. Ahem...

Here's a sight that makes the King of the Chicken House so so so happy....

It wasn't a sight that made everybody happy though....all the other chickens flew the coop, but this lady stayed put, pacing the coop and complaining loudly the entire time!
Ahhh. Gotta love Saturdays at home doing projects. We do. The kids even love it. So far.

Ivey cracks us up. Look at her body language in all the pictures. She gets TOTALLY into grubby, big jobs - but she's the first one to collapse in tears when I ask them to pick their rooms up. I don't know what makes her tick. :)

Ahhh...the satisfaction of a job well done. Actually, we trick them into thinking this is "Family Time", they don't really know they are working. That might change everything! :) Just kidding. We all love it.

I wanna come to your house! Love the family time. Neat to see every one helping each other out getting the chores done. Awesome! Your family is a true role model for the rest of us!

67 Chickens! Hmm... that's a lotta poop & eggs!

:-) Envious in the Mid-West!

Awww, yes.....chicken coop cleaning time!! I do remember those days and that was a long time ago!! I'm not sure I ever found much JOY in doing the job, but tending the chickens fell my lot in the younger days. It was either that or milking the cows!! SIL Tom would sure like it if I grew some chicks, but so far I have resisted that idea....I don't think he is around often enough to help out!! :-) Thanks for the entertaining post. Linda

Good gracious! You all really have 67!!! chickens? Love the pictures. The comment about Ivy and what makes her tick-aren't kids odd. ;D Love it and of course your family! Bryce will have to hide his head in shame if Morgan ever see's the "resourceful" attempt we made of the old exsisting chicken house here. LOL! We still need to get chicken's. Do you all sell them or you on a mission to have the largest chicken population this side of the Mississippi? Happy Fall!

Hi Michelle!
It has been quite some time since I stopped by at your blog....but sure enjoyed catching up a bit. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate your steady lives, full of contentment and good family time. Recently spent some wonderful (but short) time with your twin and got in on watching one of those everyday-type ranch jobs and really enjoyed that as well. So glad you can all 5 go riding now... :)

I want to see the chicken house! I love how the kids pitch in and work, something you don't see being taught a lot now-a-days. Your family is soooooooo special! Give the kids a big hug from me.
