If You Leave an Unsaddled Pony in the Pen

Here's a little birthday story for Callie. Patterned loosely after "If you give a Mouse a Cookie"

It all started one summer evening when a little boy and his Daddy were riding their horses in a round pen and a pony was in the arena with just a bridle on so when the little boy was done riding, his sisters could use his saddle and ride the pony. BUT...
If you leave a pony in the pen without a saddle, a little boy will probably find it. He will probably try to get on by himself.
When he gets on, he'll be so happy he will probably try to ride bareback.
When he starts to ride bareback, Daddy will probably come give him some pointers since he hasn't ridden bareback before.
When Daddy comes to give pointers, he'll probably shuck his saddle and ride bareback too, just for fun.
When a boy and his Daddy are both bareback, they will probably decide to be indians and attack the cowboys.
When a little boy who has never been bareback before tries to be a fast indian, he is probably going to eat a little dirt.
But, he keeps smiling and tries several more times (falling off on purpose a time or two. When we go next time, there will probably be a little boy looking for a pony with no saddle on.
THE END.

Wow, what a feast of pictures!! Good photography Michelle. Love the one of Shane falling off the pony, and the one of him smiling for the camera. So funny to see Ivey concentrating on the "bugs" like she always does--that sequence of photos belongs in a mag somewhere....
Happy Birthday to Miss Callie!!!!

That is great photo-planning with the "man and the horse" framed in the square on the screen door.

This is an AWESOME post! I loved it! :) You can just see the excitement and hear the laughter going on throughout the entire thing! And in some of the pictures, you KNOW Morgan is having just as much fun as Shane. :) Thanks for sharing this! I'm still laughing! :)

What a great page........and what a delight in each one. Every one is so special, from the delight on Shane's face that is caught like no other, to Ivey looking so much taller and looking good in her great hat, and Sadie studying just how bareback riding is done. My special favorite was the three of them standing there with their swords. Thanks so much for putting these on there for Callie consumption and all of us can enjoy along with her and you!

You win a purple grand prize ribbon for this post Shell! :) I LOVE it! Everything about it - your narration, the fantastic photos, and the pure fun and delight in the faces of Morgy & Shaneomac. It's just amazing! You should frame all these pictures together for Shane's room...they are too great not to! :)

Michelle,
Love your pictures. I hadn't checked your blog since last winter so it was fun catching up again. When I tried to go to Melody's it wasn't there. Is she still posting one? Haven't talked to your dad for a long time so need to do that soon. How is all of your family doing? Email if you get a chance. Address is ballison@midrivers.com.

Take care, Brenda Allison
