Here is something else we've been up to this winter....enjoying every aspect of having a woodstove. We love the cozy feeling of a woodfire, but getting the firewood is just as much part of the worth of a woodstove in our opinion. Then there is the splitting (kids love it), and the building of the fire (Shane jumps at the chance). What ISN'T to love about a woodstove? :)
Daddy cuts it....we gather it. Unless I grab the camera to take pictures and make the kids do my share. This was an attitide checkpoint...they all passed. :) Winker had been Princess Thundercloud when we started, but fresh air and a few trips back and forth to the truck worked wonders.
Mac. Trying to look serious here, but don't let him fool you. He was silly as could be and had a ball loading the truck and using his hatchet on anything that looked like it needed chopped on a little.
And Dadler. When she was tiny, Hatty said "I believe this one has a higher octane level than the others." I don't know what she meant. :) A bit on the crazy side....lots of people say she reminds them of her Aunt Hannah. :)
One armload Daddy brings in = 3 loads by the kids. :)
Training up a new generation on the chainsaw. Just kidding. She was begging to carry it back to the truck, but I know she was thinking it would be cool to fire it up and  use it. :)
A little proof that we did have snow this winter. Ivey was trying to build a tiny snowman. I had a few other pictures, but they failed to load on this post, resulting in one random snow picture amongst firewood ones. Oh well....

Have a great day!

I feel the same way about wood stoves as you. Only I don't have one. Probably a good thing, as we have no trees around to chop up!!
I want to know where the picture is of Mama carrying her load!?! :)
Great posts - keep em' coming!
Love you all!
